The TEDx Talk You Can't Miss: ShouldStorm

We live in a culture of constant criticism, haunted by the idea that one mistake can alter our childs destiny forever. This "Shouldstorm" makes us anxious parents who raise anxious kids.

Dr. Escalante has spent her life asking, "What makes us human, and what makes us happy?" Her undergraduate work at Princeton University in Medieval and Renaissance History with a focus in cultural interpretation taught her that IDEAS change history. Then she entered the study of medicine.

Must See TED Talk: The Parenting ShouldStorm by Alison Escalante MD

16 years of pediatric experience helping families with their physical and mental health taught her that something was really wrong. Anxious over-parenting is producing fearful kids who think they can't do things for themselves (which only increases the burden of anxiety in their parents). The offered solutions either didn't help her patients or reinforced the anxiety by telling parents that one mistake could alter their child's destiny forever.

"This has got to stop!" she thought, and she came up with a game-changer. Now she is a woman on a mission with a clear, 3-Step method to help parents raise kids skillfully AND enjoy doing it. As a recovering worried mother herself, she has found that the 3S's bring her more joy as she raises her two rambunctious boys.

The response to her TEDx Talk has been powerful, and parents said they wanted to explore these ideas further. So Dr. Alison said "Let's do it!" and started the Facebook Group: (no more) ShouldStorm. Anyone can join who is interested in the Should-Free Parenting revolution!
